Study: Nevada, South Dakota, Montana Among Most ‘Gambling Addicted’ States

As the Kentucky Derby approaches on May 6, personal finance website WalletHub has released a study of the most “gambling addicted” states.

The gambling industry brought in a record $60 billion in revenue last year, but some states are leading the way in rolling the dice. WalletHub compared the 50 states across 20 key metrics. The data set ranges from the presence of illegal gambling operations to lottery sales per capita to the share of adults with gambling disorders.

Nevada, South Dakota, Montana and Louisiana are at the top of the list, according to WalletHub. The least gambling addicted states, according to the company, are Maine, Hawaii, Alaska, Vermont and Utah.
